Job DescriptionApplication Engineer Job Description: Plan the design and implementation of high technology products to achieve a specific goal with the system designed. Work with a manufacturers, sales, and customer service departments to provide designed solutions to customers needs. Gather information about clients needs and develop systems using an array of products. Research new products as viable solutions to applications presented. Work closely with customers, manufacturers, sales and customer service departments. Programming of PLCs, HMIs, Servo Drives, Variable Frequency Drives, Vision Systems, Laser Displacement sensors and other automation components for new equipment. Component specification and bill of material development. Hardware and Software troubleshooting. Start-up support and on-site commissioning of new control systems. Field Engineering support for retrofit and upgrade projects. Lead Electricians on field installation projects. Work with Machine Builders, OEMs and End Users through Electrical Design, Programming, and Commission phases of projects. Support Panel Shop Wireman with component and configuration directions during panel builds. Travel to customers for design reviews and project start-ups (Overnight travel - 20%, local travel - 60%). Support Technical Support Team with customer support calls that require a higher level of experienceQualifications: Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering/ Electrical Engineering Technology or 2 year related technical degree. PLC and HMI programming experience. Microsoft Office. Must have ability to communicate effectively and work with customers. Must work well alone and in a team environment to achieve the organizations ultimate goals. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong math skills and the ability to handle both simple tasks and complex assignments. Must be able to handle multiple projects in a short period of time with deadline pressures. Must be able to present ideas and information accurately and explain industry jargon in a clear manner. Must be self-motivated and have ability to work through projects with minimal supervision.Desired but not required: Omron PLCs & HMIs Cognex Vision Systems SCADA programming Schematic Design (from scratch)
