Oversees month end close processes and ensures deadlines are met in a timely and accurate manner. Ensures accuracy of balance sheet. Manages quarterly and year end audits. Oversees and manages the month end closing process ensuring deadlines are met in a timely and accurate manner.Analyzes balance sheet and income statement variances and prepares responses to questions regarding the variances.Reviews month end balance sheet and income statement commentary for monthly review with management.Evaluates reconciliations and journal entries for all accounts in assigned areas; leads monthly reconciliation meetings with municates and informs any issues or concerns to the Director of Accounting.Manages quarterly and year:end audit process; collaborates with external auditors to ensure requests and deadlines are met. Continuously finds ways to strengthen process to minimize time requirements and enhance procedures in assigned areas.Guides other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy; applying observations and recommendations to operational issues.Fosters the CompanyA?s core values and culture throughout the work environment.Screens, interviews and makes recommendations for hiring potential associates. Coaches and provides leadership, direction, motivation and supervision of direct reports. Appraises performance, provides performance feedback, takes corrective actions and oversees training and development of staff. Performs other duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to perform this job. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE.Bachelors degree (B.A. / B.S.) in Accounting, Finance or related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 5 years related accounting experience with at least 3 years of supervisory/managerial experience. Advanced Microsoft Office skills. PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEMasterA?s degree (M.A./M.S.) in Accounting, Finance or Business. Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. REASONING/PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITYAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
